Keith Urban Reflects Back To When Taylor Swift Opened For Him During 2009 Tour

During an appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show on Thursday (December 12), Keith Urban shared memories of the time when a 19-year-old Taylor Swift was his opening act during his 2009 Escape Together World Tour. Urban went on to bring the creative experience full circle by duetting with Swift on “That’s When,” from her reworked 2021 album, Fearless (Taylor’s Version), a song she played during that early tour. “She was amazing even back then,” Urban recalls. “I would sit up front and watch her sing and I’m like, ‘Oh, she was singing way off into this other thing.’ You could see it. She was playing way past where she was already. It’s amazing.” Urban shared that he was in the mall when Taylor texted him about singing on “That’s When,” sitting in the food court listening to the song she shared with him. “I’m sitting there with my AirPods in, listening to this unreleased Taylor song. It was crazy,” Urban recalls. (People)
