Ne-Yo Receives Key To City And Is Honored With His Own Day During Las Vegas Residency

During Ne-Yo’s Human Love Rebellion residency performance in Las Vegas on Wednesday night (August 7), the R&B superstar was presented with a prestigious honor. Mayor Carolyn Goodman interrupted the show to surprise the soul singer with the Key to the City of Las Vegas, while she also officially declared August 7 as Ne-Yo Day in the city. “Yours has extra jewels [compared] to the one we gave Usher two months ago,” said Goodman from the stage as she presented him with the honors. “You’re homegrown, my dear man … Congratulations!”

Ne-Yo was clearly moved by the presentation – which was captured on Instagram – saying appreciatively, “Thank you. I don’t want to get emotional, I’m trying to be fly. I can’t cry in this suit. Thank you to our lovely mayor, thank you to the city of Las Vegas, thank you all for being here.” Ne-Yo’s Human Love Rebellion residency continues with a pair of shows this weekend on August 9-10 at the Encore Theater at Wynn Las Vegas.
