Black Hills FCU Caramel Roll Sale To Benefit Area Students

With the start of the 2018-2019 school year right around the corner, Black Hills Federal Credit Union plans to kick off their 22nd Annual School Supply Drive with a donation-based caramel roll sale on Wednesday at their Downtown Member Service Center in Rapid City.

For a suggested $5 donation to the School Supply Drive, community members can pick up a caramel roll provided by Colonial House Restaurant and a cup of coffee from Dark Canyon Coffee between 7 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. on July 18th in the parking lot of BHFCU’s downtown location at 225 Main Street. All proceeds from the sale will go toward the purchase and distribution of much-needed school supplies for students in more than 60 area schools in 14 communities across Western South Dakota.

“Whether it’s donating school supplies or stopping by our caramel roll sale, your contribution will go a long way toward reducing the financial burden of back-to-school expenses for many local families and ensuring thousands of students have the supplies they need to fully participate in classroom activities this school year,” said Heidi Bulman, community development officer at BHFCU.

During last year’s Drive, BHFCU collected and distributed more than 100,000 school supplies to area schools, thanks to the generosity of credit union members, the community and area businesses, Bulman said.

Community members interested in supporting the Drive can donate supplies at Black Hills Federal Credit Union or Black Hills Energy locations throughFriday, August 17. Area businesses and individuals can also contribute by holding a supply drive at their workplace or by making a monetary donation to the Black Hills FCU Charitable Fund, a 501(c)(3) organization, at any BHFCU location. All contributions to the Fund will be used to purchase school supplies for the Drive.

The Drive will culminate with a “Load the Bus” celebration, where representatives from area schools will gather to collect supplies for their schools onFriday, August 24.
