12:00 AM-1:00 PMLunch & Learn: History of Military Rations
downtown library (610 Quincy Street, upstairs)

Lunch & Learn: History of Military Rations with SDSM&T Associate Professor, John R Dryer

Military rations represent technological innovations and what we eat. Join us Wednesday, September 18 from noon to 1 p.m. at the downtown library (610 Quincy Street, upstairs), for a discussion lead by John R Dryer, Associate Professor of Political Science at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology. Dryer connects the history of military rations and how they are tied to a nation’s culture and eating habits.

John R Dryer, PhD, is a 2008 graduate of the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and a 2000/2003 graduate of Bowling Green State University in Northwest Ohio. He teaches and writes about the military history, strategic studies and international security, having co-authored “Small States in the International System” and authored “The Little Bighorn Staff Ride”. Dryer’s interest in rations and military cookery comes naturally as a native of Toledo, Ohio watching freighters on the Great Lakes enjoying the culinary delicacies of his hometown.

While lunch registration is closed at this time, feel free to bring a lunch and join us for this event.
